When your head is in the fashion world things can get confusing, in fact I think especially in the real world things are even more confusing. I was shopping yesterday for some new outfits, it is freezing cold here in the UK so a coat, scarf some knitwear was what I wanted. But alas the stores have all the new spring/summer collections in, which is great on one hand it is so nice to buy something new and cheerful to have for when the sunshine comes. Yet on the other hand it makes shopping for now impossible! Then New York fashion week kicks off with next autumn/winter collections but I don’t want to wait until September I want to wear it now. With Burberry kicking off the buy straight from the runway option and word has it other designers are following suit, it is great to not have to wait. However if we can have next seasons clothes now, will we still want to wear them in 6 months time? Who knows but I do think the traditional way catwalk to shop works will have to change to keep up.
Any way enough of my musings here are the highlights of NYFW. Key themes are bold colours especially yellow, which is good news as it is a hot colour for S/S too, meaning you can make your bold colour items work for both seasons. Another transeasonal trend is white, I know, I know ‘no white after Labour day’ but really it is time to throw that rule out the door. Teamed with black leather winter white is very appealing. The waist was emphasised by many designers but no one cuts a lean figure like Victoria Beckham. The midi skirt is also surprisingly flattering just make sure it hits at the slim part of your leg. Pairing sweaters with lady-like skirts is a really easy trend to adopt, I’m pretty sure most of you have a sweater and a skirt! Another thing of note this season is the lack of winter ware. Really, looking through the collections they could easily be mistaken for spring/summer. Fear not there were beautiful sheepskin and leather pieces but layering was done with a sleeker silhouette in mind.

I love these styles (midi + sweater = on trend AND comfy for a day at work, result). Also the bold colour blocked touser outfit, very nice.
And like you say, just as well I can recreated them with my current wardrobe as I went shopping yesterday and it was all sleeveless and sheer… BRRRRRR!
Hits at the slimmest part of leg? That will be my ankle then lol! x
Im loving this!
The bright colours with traditional winter wear are going to look wonderful come fall!
